Studio - Culver City, CA - Full Time

Uproxx Media Group is seeking a talented In-House Director/Editor/Production Technician to join our studio team working on content built specifically for our O&O platform as well as off-platform channels like Facebook and YouTube. Our studio team is passionate about storytelling and continuing to push the boundaries of creating the best content on the web.

The ideal candidate will be able to craft both cinematic and “un-produced” moments whether filming in the field or a controlled studio setting, and will have extensive experience editing footage into compelling short form content with strong propositions and story arc. They will have a deep understanding of conventional storytelling techniques as well as the desire to be innovative in their approach to cinematography and post-production. We’re looking for someone who wants to be a part of The Culture of Now and a desire to always strive to make our content better.

As part of our team you will be shooting, directing and editing videos for a variety of our verticals including Entertainment, Sports, Music, Tech, News and Current Events, and more. Content will range from short form daily videos to longer deep dive doc style storytelling.  You’ll work with our production and creative teams to identify compelling stories, tell them efficiently and effectively as well as working with our Editorial staff to find ties to our audience’s passions.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for managing our equipment room operations and providing technical support for day to day in-house and remote productions.

Enthusiasm, a willingness to travel, an ability to juggle multiple projects, and initiative to kick-start projects in a busy work environment are all huge musts.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in directing, shooting, and editing
  • Ability to chase, own, and follow up on compelling stories
  • High end shooting capability and familiarity shooting with the Sony FS7 and Sony A7 required. Experience with Alexa Mini a plus.
  • Experience running lighting board/studio lighting
  • Expert in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop
  • Knowledge of editing techniques, audio mixing, color correction techniques and software, media file formats, animated graphics and equipment used in day-to-day post-production processes.
  • Motion graphics experience a plus
  • Desire to be part of the voice of the digital generation and tell stories through the lens of The Culture of Now.
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop both new approaches and formats for our current programming as well as a constant evolution of our content.
  • Tri-Caster and/or Livestreaming experience a huge plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Balancing the work of a variety of projects, from daily deliveries to longer video productions
  • Working closely with video, editorial, and social team members to deliver the highest quality and highest impact content possible
  • Participating in brainstorms and bringing new ideas to the table
  • Shooting/Directing Daily short from video, press-line interviews, run-and-gun event coverage, doc content and more
  • Managing Equipment Room Operations, including but not limited to;
    • Preparing equipment packages for field and studio teams
    • Inventory scheduling and asset tracking
    • Scheduling equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repair
    • Troubleshooting equipment in studio and in the field
    • Expendable tracking
