Creative Director - Uproxx Media Group

Uproxx is seeking a Creative Director to lead branded projects and oversee teams of creatives. You are someone who has a passion for storytelling, advertising and a voracious appetite for all things current and meaningful namely in Entertainment, Music, Sports and Pop Culture. Must have experience understanding client’s needs, pitching concepts in exciting ways and having a vision to creatively execute branded stories that don’t feel like ads. A well-versed understanding of production from all aspects is critical. Looking for fresh thinkers, out-of-the-box visionaries and those who have strong creative taste that aligns with Uproxx’s brand of The Culture of Now.

This position will be based in our Culver City office.

What You’ll Do

  • Set a tone across studio creatively — pushing excellence out of other creatives and managing and inspiring teams.  
  • Develop and execute creative concepts for clients that align with Uproxx’s brand — you should have a knack for elevating branded content to not feel branded
  • Closely collaborate with clients and brands to ensure expectations are met. 
  • Work with Design, Creative Strategy, and Production to create presentation materials including high quality decks, compelling write ups, storyboards, and video reels. 
  • Execution of creative projects/concepts in a timely fashion. 
  • Give direction and noted to creative teams.
  • Onboard production teams to execute concepts to their fullest and ensure edits are aligned with original intent
  • Hire and oversee team-members and create structures of leadership

Who You Are

  • You have a deep understanding and passion for youth culture and the ever changing digital landscape - you devour new information
  • 7+ years experience preferably in digital media. Experience in working in editorial, design, advertising agency, film, events, & branded entertainment 
  • 3+ years experience in management 
  • You are right & left brained — able to concept imaginative ideas into practical and approachable terms
  • You have a deep understanding of the digital, social, content & technology space. 
  • You have a drive for pushing the bounds of the medium and revel in adapting and improving with the landscape
  • You are positive, collaborative and self-motivated -- but still have attitude 
  • You are a strong writer and have excellent taste in design, film/tv and music. 
  • Knowledge and passion for documentaries a strong plus
  • You are capable of moving rapidly between formats, solutions and briefs. 
  • You are know how to work cross-functionally across multiple departments. 
  • You operate best in fast paced and creatively demanding environments; creatives will have to balance many projects at once with tight deadlines and production schedules.
